Saracen Uganda Limited is looking for dedicated, detail-oriented, and professional individuals to join our team as Investigators.
Job Purpose
Investigators work alongside other departments, law enforcement agencies, businesses, and individuals to investigate and resolve cases, supporting successful outcomes and convictions. At Saracen, investigators are required to conduct thorough investigations into complex criminal activities and other violations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect, analyse, and preserve evidence
- Direct crime scene officers and other personnel where necessary
- Process crime scenes through scene recognition, documentation, and evidence collection
- Operate within all applicable laws governing investigations
- Initiate preliminary surveys, develop initial theories, and refine them as new information emerges
- Thoroughly document scenes and gather potential evidence — including physical items, specimens, documents, photographs, and statements — for laboratory analysis or use in prosecution
- Examine and evaluate evidence involving conflicting interpretations and help resolve discrepancies
- Draft detailed investigative reports and be prepared to present evidence
- Support the identification, apprehension, and prosecution of perpetrators
Qualifications
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Proven working experience as a criminal investigator
- Hands-on experience with crime scene analysis and event reconstruction
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce thorough, accurate reports
- In-depth knowledge of criminal law, rules, and legislation
- Familiarity with all evidence types (circumstantial, direct, trace, hearsay, etc.) and the rules governing their admissibility
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Law, Criminology, or a related field
- Solid understanding of the investigation process and the unique circumstances of each case
- Strong analytical, interviewing, and interrogation skills
- Honesty, integrity, and a strong ethical standard
Physical Requirements
- Good mental, physical, and psychological health
